Obituary

Kenneth R. Clark, 90, of Belle Vernon died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, while on his annual family vacation in Rehoboth Beach, Del. He was born March 17, 1924, in McKeesport, and was the son of the late Jacob and Jennie Clark. After their passing, he was raised by his sister and her husband, the late Isabelle and John Hurley. He was also preceded in death by his beloved younger sister, Jean Morley. An outstanding athlete, he excelled in football and basketball at North Belle Vernon High School. After one semester of college, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1942 and served in England as a Military Police Officer. After his service, Mr. Clark received both his bachelor's and master's in education from the University of Pittsburgh. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Eleanor Forty Clark, formerly of Monessen, with whom he spent 65 wonderful years. He was a much loved teacher and coach at Vernon Junior High, Bellmar High School and later Thomas Jefferson High School where he taught for a combined 42 years. Mr. Clark was a member of American Legion Post 659 and the VFW Post 699 where he served as First Chaplin. He leaves behind three daughters, Kimberly Clark of Greensburg, Lisa Clark of San Francisco and Amy Clark-Grubb of Hummelstown, Pa. He has one son, Kenneth Clark II of Pittsburgh. He will be deeply missed by his son-in-law, Steven Grubb and his daughter-in-law Priscilla Clark. He is the proud grandfather of Logan and Conor Grubb and Kenneth and Claire Clark. Mr. Clark loved travel, sports, reading and making new friends wherever he went. Above all he treasured time with his family. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayer will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick, pastor of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of the Belle Vernon American Legion will conduct services Friday evening at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
